Pride Mural Unveiling

In celebration of Pride Month, we have commissioned a mural for the side of our building titled “Silk Road”, which reflects the diversity of our queer community.  So, of course, we’re throwing a party to celebrate!  Scissor Sisters and Side Kitsch Vintage will also be officially inducted into the LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Come sip some complimentary champagne, toast the “Silk Road'', dance to some jams by DJ Sad Dad, and stick around for some badass Drag featuring some of Austin’s top entertainers on the Scissor Sisters’ stage.

ABOUT THE MURAL

“Silk Road” is a celebration of Austin’s diverse and inclusive community.  It is a commentary on how gender fluidity has opened the city of Austin to exciting forms of fashion and entertainment. The imagery is taken from iconic artists that have historically supported diversity and inclusion, such as Patrick Nagel who was one of the first artists to celebrate gender fluidity and acceptance of non-binary individuals.

The colors are symbolic of Austin’s citizens of all races, nationalities, and orientations.  With hard work and creative visualization “Silk Road” came about to celebrate who we are as a queer community and how far Austin has come!
