At Scissor Sisters, we've always believed that feeling good starts with feeling safe — in the chair, and everywhere else in your life. That's exactly why I want to introduce you to someone who has completely changed my own health journey: Alex, founder of Haus of Habit. Let me tell you about my journey with Alex.

I had relized I was at my heaviest and weakest point of my life. I wanted to do something about it but6 felt intimidated by the gym. My goal was to lower my blood pressure and acheive a healthy weight. I reached that goal but I also feel younger and look healthier. Many of my aches and pains went away. I have a better grasp on nutrition and I also love the gym. Now I want to see what more I can acheive now that im not intimidated by weight training in a gym. In just 90 days, I hit a goal I'd set for myself — and I liked it so much I immediately set a new one. That kind of momentum doesn't happen by accident. It happens because I found a trainer who actually gets it.

Meet Alex, Founder of Haus of Habit
Alex identifies as gender fluid and goes by all pronouns — and builds a training practice around the same openness they bring to their own identity. Their journey into personal training didn't start as a career move. It started as a way to cut through the noise:
> "The fitness community was really confusing, full of misinformation and I wanted to know the facts. After receiving my first certification, friends and family started asking for help when they saw my own progress take off."
Alex was working in high-level tech management at the time — but the pull toward helping people rebuild confidence in themselves was too strong to ignore. So they went back to school, picked up additional specialized certifications, and built Haus of Habit from the ground up.

Where the Name Comes From
The name Haus of Habit blends two parts of Alex's story. "Habit" reflects the training philosophy — that lasting change comes from small, sustainable habits stacked one on top of another, not overnight overhauls. "Haus of" is a nod to Alex's 10+ years performing in drag and burlesque, and their roots in queer ballroom culture. It's a name built to reflect exactly who they are.

A Safe Space, By Design
This is the part that matters most to us. Haus of Habit isn't just LGBTQIA-friendly — it's built by and for the community, with real depth of experience behind it:
> "I've also had mainly queer clients and a few trans clients whom I help target specific areas of the body to help sculpt their self image and feel more alive. My biggest goal is to help you feel the best you in your skin!"
Alex has direct experience training trans men pre- and post-top surgery, along with non-binary and trans women clients — including programming that accounts for the effects of hormone replacement therapy on a fitness journey. Pronouns are asked and respected from the first meeting, intake forms are handled personally during the consult, and body image conversations happen without judgment, whenever a client needs them.
"The fitness industry has been too conservative for too long, let's make it as queer as possible by adding even more of us!"
Alex also partners with Outwellness, a trans/queer-owned gym in South Austin, where many in-person sessions take place.

Real Results, Real People
Two client stories Alex shared really capture what this approach can do:
Jim came to Alex post-top surgery, ready to build the chest he'd always envisioned — after multiple past attempts at the gym had left him defeated. With a program focused on chest development alongside broader strength goals, Jim stuck with it through the hard days and the tough conversations about body dysphoria along the way. A year later, he's added over 20 lbs of muscle and sits around 12% body fat.
Alexis started out simply wanting to lose weight after a breakup. She'd never lifted before and was intimidated by it. Working around a demanding new-business schedule, she stuck with the plan — and today she's down 40 lbs, up 18 lbs of muscle, and scoring above average across every muscle group on a recent DEXA scan. She's even considering competing in bodybuilding.
How Training Works
Alex offers 1-on-1 coaching, small group sessions, nutrition coaching, and fully virtual training. In-person sessions are based out of Outwellness in South Austin (211 E Alpine Rd), and Alex will also travel to your home or apartment gym if you're equipped for it.
Every client journey starts the same way: a free consult to talk through your goals, past experience, and pricing — followed by an onboarding session to map out your plan before week one begins. From there, Alex checks in at least weekly, with more frequent support available for anyone who wants it.
Rates start at $150 and flex from there, with stackable discounts available for service-industry folks, first-time clients, and referrals.
